State Shoots
September was a busy month for competitions; we had teams at both the 4H State Shoot at Holiday Lake 4H Center near Appomattox, and at the Virginia 4H State Shotgun Championship at Conservation Park near Richmond. Both teams had a

On September 13th and 14th the Virginia State Shoot was held at Holiday Lake 4H Center and attended by 303 4H’rs from all over Virginia, we had shooters competing in Smallbore Rifle, Archery, Air Rifle, and Silhouettes. The Top Shooters attending the state shoot were Cecilia W, Shannon J, Colin G, and Nick P. We had some great scores turned in by Shannon J with two 2nds in Smallbore and Recurve archery, and Colin G with a 4th in Silhouette Air Rifle, and a 5th in 3 Position Air Rifle. All in all a pretty impressive showing for all our teammates in attendance.

On the 27th we had 4 shooters attend the 4H State Shotgun Championship. Nick P as the lone senior, and a junior team consisting of Connor H, Paden L and Wyatt C. As a team, had a great day, and show great potential to bring home some trophies next year. One of the highlights of the day was in trap, where Connor missed tying for 1st place by one clay. All in all a great day.

Forms, Forms and more Forms (And Dues)
The 4H year starts on October 1st, and unless you’ve turned them into me in the last 30 days, EVERYONE including coaches and instructors need to turn in their 4-H Member Enrollment Form (388-002) or for instructors fill out the 4-H Volunteer Application/Enrollment Form (VA-114), and the 4-H Health History Report Form (388-906), and Code of Conduct Form (4H-164NP). I would also like all parents fill out and submit the 4-H One Time/Occasional Volunteer Application/Enrollment Form (VA-114S) it is a very short form, allows you to give the coach/instructors a hand, and covers you for liability. Filling out and submitting the form does not obligate you to volunteer, but just makes it easier on everyone if the need or desire arises.
If you child does not have a current Enrollment and Health History, they cannot participate in any practices. I will have hard copies at all events, or you can use the links below, to fill out and print them yourself.

Also keep in mind that dues are also due, the dues are $10 per family per year…
